Mumbai, Aug. 1 -- A Mumbai Sessions Court has cancelled the bail granted to a 17-year-old boy accused in the fatal Vidyavihar hit-and-run case and directed the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) to take him into custody and place him in a child reformative centre, a lawyer said on Saturday.

Additional Sessions Judge Mujibodeen Shaikh passed the order on July 31 while allowing a revision application filed by Minal Patel, wife of Dhrumil Patel (33), who succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.

The court observed that in cases involving juveniles accused of culpable homicide, the "best interest" of the child must be balanced with the interest of justice and the rights of the victims.
