Mumbai, June 10 -- Mumbai BJP president Ameet Satam performed a special puja on Wednesday to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi surpassing former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru as India's longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister.
According to the record, Modi completed 4,399 consecutive days in office on June 10, 2026, overtaking Nehru's 4,398 days as an elected PM. Nehru had served as elected Prime Minister from 1952 to 1964, while his 1947-1952 term was as head of the interim government.
Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi served more than 14 years in office, though her tenure was not continuous.
