Shillong, July 19 -- The Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) has taken suo-moto cognisance of the murder of a 19-year-old girl by her "boyfriend" yesterday, even as police are hunting to trace the murder accused who is at large.



The accused, James R. Sangma, was supposedly in a relationship with the victim.



In a statement issued on Saturday, MSCW Chairperson, Iamon Syiem said the commission would monitor the progress of police investigation into the murder case.



"We are deeply disturbed by the suffering endured by the victim and extend our heartfelt condolences to her family. Such egregious acts of violence are intolerable and represent a direct attack on the values of humanity and justice that our society upholds," she ...
