Bhopal, March 31 -- A corporator of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Madhya Pradesh's Datia city, who had come out of jail on bail in a murder case, was allegedly shot dead by three unidentified assailants today.

As per police officials, Lallu Kushwaha was the city Municipal body's councillor from ward number one.

He was on his routine morning walk with two friends.

When they reached the Sewda Chungi Chowk, three armed assailants came on a bike and shot two rounds at Lallu.

One bullet hit him in the back and the other on his head. He fell on the road and died on the spot, while the assailants fled from the scene.

On getting information, a police team rushed to the spot and sent the body for postmortem.
