Lucknow, Sept. 20 -- Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said that the highest number of statues of Constitution-maker Dr. B.R. Ambedkar were vandalised during the BJP's tenure in Uttar Pradesh.He further claimed that arrests had been made in 14 cases, while the accused remained unidentified in 45 cases. Named complaints were filed in eight cases, he said, adding that no action was taken in 84 cases.
Yadav claimed that 151 Ambedkar statues had been vandalised across 72 districts during the period, averaging more than 15 incidents a year. Ballia recorded the highest number of such incidents, he said.
"BJP members do not respect Ambedkar," Yadav alleged.
