Chennai, June 29 -- Amid a mass exodus of former Ministers, EX-MPs and MLAs deserting the party over successive poll losses, the Opposition AIADMK, which finished a distant third in the recent elections, suffered yet another major setback on Monday withparty strongman and former Tamil Nadu Transport Minister M R Vijayabaskar quitting as Legislator.

MRV as he was called in party circles, Vijayabaskar was elected from Karur Assembly in the April 23 Assembly elections for a second term. He had first won in 2016 and was made Minister for the first time by late Chief Ministers J Jayalalithaa. However, he lost from the same seat to DMK's V Senthilbalaji in 2021, before winning in this elections.
