Chandigarh, July 8 -- Gurugram's pre-monsoon pond revival initiative has begun yielding visible results, with several rejuvenated ponds emerging as major rainwater reservoirs during the ongoing monsoon.

According to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), ponds that were desilted and dewatered before the rainy season have stored large volumes of rainwater, reducing pressure on surrounding areas prone to waterlogging.

MCG said the Pond Revival Committee's pre-monsoon dewatering and restoration drive enabled ponds at Palra, Dhanwapur and Darbaripur, along with several other locations, to receive 10 to 12 feet of rainwater during the recent spells of heavy rainfall.
