Mumbai, Oct. 10 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) officially declared the withdrawal of monsoon from Mumbai today, marking the earliest retreat the city has witnessed in seven years and the second earliest since 2006.

This year's monsoon departure, though delayed beyond the normal withdrawal date, brings closure to a season that began with concerns over water scarcity but concluded with sufficient reservoir levels to sustain the city for the coming year.
