Guwahati, Aug. 27 -- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Assam on September 8 has been postponed dueto his engagement regarding the vice presidential election.

Modi was supposed to arrive Assam on September 8 to inaugurate the year-long birth centenary celebrations of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.

"While the celebration in Assam would nevertheless be held on September 8, the Prime Minister would commemorate the occasion on September 13," said Sarma.
