Kolkata, April 23 -- A day when the first phase of the election is going on, Prime Minister Narendra Modi combined assurances for refugee communities and a slew of welfare promises for women making it obvious the BJP is trying to counter TMC's dole politics with better offers.

Addressing a rally in Krishnanagar in Nadia district where Matua-Namasudra refugees form a decisive segment of the electorate, the Prime Minister assured that the refugees who have come to India because of religious persecution will not lose their citizenship.
