Kolkata, Dec. 20 -- In a telephonic address to the people of Taherpur in Nadia district of West Bengal after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's helicopter failed to land because of poor visibility, Modi launched a scathing attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing it of obstructing development, indulging in corruption and causing "suffering" to the people of the state.

The Prime Minister's scheduled visit to Taherpur on Saturday morning ran into uncertainty after dense fog prevented his helicopter from landing at the rally venue.

The chopper took off from Dum Dum airport at 10.33 am and was expected to reach Taherpur by 11.15 am, but was forced to turn back due to low visibility.
