New Delhi, July 10 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Chennai will host the first-ever Big Bash League (BBL) match outside Australia, unveiling the historic fixture alongside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during their joint visit to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday.
The 2026-27 BBL season will begin with Melbourne Renegades taking on Perth Scorchers at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on December 12. The Renegades will be the designated home team, with the match scheduled after the fourth day's play of the opening Test between Australia and New Zealand in Perth.
