Hyderabad, Sept. 23 -- The Ministry of Defence on Wednesday signed a contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for procurement of 160 Satellite Smart Anti-Airfield Weapons (SAT-SAAW) and associated equipment for the Indian Air Force (IAF) at a total cost of Rs 810.79 crore.
The contract, signed in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi, comes under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category.
SAT-SAAW, indigenously designed and developed by DRDO, is an air-to-ground precision-guided glide bomb capable of being launched from Jaguar, Hawk and Su-30 MKI aircraft to neutralise enemy airfields from long stand-off ranges.
