Chennai, July 17 -- An emergency mock drill was conducted at atomic energy facilities at Kalpakkam, about 70 km here, to test the defence preparedness of various security agencies in the ever of any Nuclear emergencies emergency on Friday.
The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Kalpakkam Centre has many units functioning at Kalpakkam such as Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS) under Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL). Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) (under commissioning by BHAVINI), BARC Facilities, etc.
