Guwahati, Jan. 20 -- Tension gripped Assam's Kokrajhar town after a mob clashed with police over the death of a youth in a mob attack on Monday following an accident. The district administration has suspended mobile internet services in the district to prevent rumour-mongering, officials said on Tuesday.
Police resorted to lathicharge and firing of tear gas shells after the mob blocked the National Highway halting movement of vehicular traffic. Although police repeatedly requested the mob to clear the highway, the mob continued to block the road demanding action against the culprits behind the attack.
