Aizawl, Jan. 27 -- A coalition government led by the Mizo National Front (MNF) and the Congress assumed office on Tuesday in the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), one of the three autonomous councils in Mizoram, ending nearly two months of political deadlock following fragmented elections.

The new Chief Executive Member (CEM) was sworn in at a ceremony in Lawngtlai district, paving the way for the formation of an executive committee in the 25-member council. Elections to the council were held on December 3 last year, but the executive could not be constituted amid negotiations between political parties.
