Mumbai, July 2 -- Maharashtra Food and Drug Minister Narhari Zirwal today acknowledged the grave risk posed by unrestrained sale of harmful substances like energy drinks and analogue paneer in the open market and assured the state Legislative Council that immediate steps would be taken to address the issue.
He gave this assurance after MLC Satyajeet Tambe expressed concern over unmonitored and unchecked sale of adulterated and harmful food items in the markets across Maharashtra and criticised the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) department for its lack of action on the culprits.
Products such as 'Sting' and 'Charged' energy drinks and analogue paneer are being sold openly without any control.
