Aizawl, March 22 -- The Mizoram government has initiated fresh efforts to revive its proposed household registers legislation by constituting a Drafting Committee to prepare a revised version of the Mizoram Maintenance of Household Registers Bill, 2026.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma informed the State Assembly in a written reply that the committee was formed on February 25 after the earlier Mizoram Maintenance of Household Registers Bill, 2019, failed to secure approval from the Centre.
