Aizawl, Aug. 28 -- Mizoram home minister K. Sapdanga told the state assembly today that the Centre, in collaboration with Assam Rifles and the state government, has been carrying out surveys to determine the feasibility of erecting fencing along the Indo-Myanmar border.
Replying in writing to a query raised by opposition member K. Laldawngliana of the Mizo National Front (MNF), Sapdanga said that no final decision has yet been reached on the exact length of the Mizoram-Myanmar boundary that would be fenced.
He stressed that the matter falls under the authority of the central government, though consultations with the state are under way.
"The state government has been cooperating fully with the Centre in this regard," he noted.
