Aizawl, Feb. 27 -- Calling for a culture rooted in thoughtful reading and authentic storytelling, Mizoram's School Education Minister Vanlalthlana on Friday urged students and aspiring writers to look beyond examinations and personal recognition, and instead embrace literature as a way to better understand life and society.

Addressing the gathering at the 'Lei' Mizoram Literature Festival here, the minister stressed that reading should not be limited to academic achievement.

"Read not merely to pass examinations, but to understand life. Read to see the world from different perspectives. And write not for fame, but because you have something sincere to say," he said.
