Aizawl, Aug. 27 -- Mizoram has issued nearly five lakh Inner Line Permits (ILPs) since 2024, with more than 2.15 lakh permits granted in the period following the opening of the Bairabi-Sairang railway line, Home Minister K Sapdanga told the state Assembly on Thursday.
In a written reply to questions in the Assembly, Sapdanga said the state government had issued 4,94,033 ILPs between 2024 and July 2026.
Of these, 2,15,946 permits were issued between September 2025 and July 2026, following the inauguration of Sairang railway station in September last year, indicating a substantial rise in the movement of people into Mizoram after the state's first railway connection to the rest of the country became operational.
