Aizawl, Dec. 29 -- Private practice by government doctors drawing Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) has been effectively halted in Mizoram, the Mizoram Resource Mobilisation Committee (MRMC) said on Monday.
The committee, chaired by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, reviewed a decision taken on April 23 last year, which mandates that government doctors receiving NPA must not engage in private practice.
A report placed by the Health and Family Welfare Department stated that the state has 452 government doctors, of whom 347 are drawing NPA, while 105 are not. The report confirmed that none of the doctors availing NPA are currently involved in private practice.
