Aizawl, Sept. 7 -- The Mizoram government has partnered with eight banks to introduce a "One Department, One Bank" (ODOB) system aimed at improving monitoring and management of public funds.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma said the initiative was prompted in part by repeated observations in Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports about substantial government funds being kept in Drawing and Disbursing Officers' accounts without adequate oversight by the Finance Department.
The system will initially cover eight departments, with more departments to be brought under it subsequently.
Lalduhoma said the arrangement would improve transparency and enable the government to track its funds more effectively.
