Aizawl, Feb. 22 -- Mizoram's push to strengthen its farm economy under the flagship Bana Kaih (Handholding) Scheme is beginning to yield visible results, with improved harvests in select crops and renewed focus on value addition, according to KC Lalmalsawmzauva, Adviser to the Chief Minister for Implementation of the Handholding Scheme.

Speaking at the Regional Interaction Meet of the Food Processing Industry held in Aizawl, Lalmalsawmzauva underscored that empowering farmers goes beyond increasing production and must extend to preservation, processing and safe packaging of agricultural produce.
