Aizawl, Sept. 13 -- Train services to Mizoram resumed on Sunday after the Northeast Frontier Railway restored a rain-damaged stretch of track between Jamira in Assam and Bairabi in Mizoram, ending a 10-day disruption on the Katakhal-Bairabi section.
The damaged section was cleared for train movement following a successful trial run on Friday evening, when a locomotive with one coach travelled over the restored track to test its safety.
Train No. 55669, the Silchar-Sairang Passenger, subsequently became the first train to pass through the affected stretch after restoration, according to Northeast Frontier Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma.
