Aizawl, Oct. 26 -- The Assam Rifles recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition near the India-Myanmar border in Mizoram's Champhai district. The recovery followed a search operation on Friday morning in the vicinity of Saikhumpai hamlet under Vaphai village council.

According to a statement from the Assam Rifles, the troops executed the search in the rugged, forested terrain surrounding the border hamlet. After several hours, the security personnel discovered a concealed cache of weapons hidden deep inside the jungle.

The recovered items included: six 60 mm mortar tubes with base plates, two 7.62 mm Myanmar-made assault rifles, three shotguns, two .22 rifles, and one hand grenade.
