Srinagar, July 1 -- Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is among 100 prominent citizens from India and Pakistan write to the prime ministers of both countries, urging them to resume dialogue on Jammu and Kashmir and to work on creating lasting peace in the region.

The letter was also signed National Conference president Farooq Abdullah and Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti.

In statement, Mirwaiz said that he signed the appeal for India-Pakistan dialogue and lasting Peace because he believes that dialogue between the two is not only desirable but necessary for peace in the region and for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
