Srinagar, July 7 -- Kashmir's chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday alleged that he was placed under house arrest and prevented from attending a youth event organised at Eidgah in downtown Srinagar.
In a post on X, the Mirwaiz said, " Again put under house arrest today and prevented from attending an event organised by the youth of downtown Srinagar at Eidgah. Regret that the opportunity to engage with the youth was obstructed!"There was no immediate official statement from the authorities regarding the Mirwaiz's claim.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz criticised an upcoming Bollywood film, citing an media report that claimed it portrays the use of pellet guns in Kashmir as causing "limited damage" while mocking the suffering of pellet victims.
