Glasgow, July 26 -- Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu etched her name deeper into Commonwealth Games history on Sunday, storming to a record-breaking third successive gold medal in the women's 48kg weightlifting event and handing India its first gold of the 2026 Glasgow Games.

The 31-year-old Indian ace lifted a total of 190kg (85kg snatch and 105kg clean and jerk), producing another commanding display to extend her decade-long dominance at the Commonwealth Games. In the process, she set a new Commonwealth Games record in the snatch with an 85kg lift.
