Imphal, Aug. 26 -- India celebrated a golden evening at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2025 in Ahmedabad as Olympic medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and emerging lifter Chanambam Rishikanta Singh clinched top honours, bringing pride to both Manipur and the nation.

In the women's 48kg category, Mirabai Chanu marked her return to international competition after a year-long injury layoff with a commanding performance. The Tokyo Olympics silver medallist lifted a total of 193kg - 84kg in snatch and 109kg in clean and jerk - setting new Commonwealth Championship records in all three categories.
