Gangtok, Sept. 15 -- As many as 28 houses comprising 128 people have been evacuated and shifted to the Rimbi Gram Panchayat Kendra as a precautionary measure after heavy rainfall and flooding aggravated the landslide situation in Rimbi-Singlitam in Sikkim's Gyalshing district.
Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister and local MLA Tshering T. Bhutia visited the landslide-hit area on Tuesday and took stock of the extensive damage to houses, properties and the vital road connecting Melli, Khechuperi and Yuksom. The landslide has completely collapsed the road, severely affecting the lifeline connectivity of the area.
