Panchkula, Aug. 15 -- Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Shruti Choudhary today hoisted the national flag and took the salute at the district-level 80th Independence Day celebrations held at Parade Ground, Sector 5, Panchkula.
Before the ceremony, Choudhary paid floral tribute at the Shaheedi Smarak in Sector 12 to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said Haryana was a land of "valour, sacrifice and patriotism" and recalled that the spark of the freedom movement that emerged from Ambala on May 10, 1857, helped ignite the struggle for independence across the country.
