New Delhi, April 16 -- Marking 173 years of Indian Railways, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday unveiled one of the oldest photographs of the historic Thane railway bridge, along with an early train capturing a rare glimpse into the country's rail heritage.
The picture was shared by the minister on his X handle. the post was captioned: "Journey continues."The Thane bridge holds a special place in history, being built during the construction of the country's first passenger train run in 1853. Historians note that archival accuracy has long been a challenge, with several misattributed or stylised images frequently doing the rounds.
