Hyderabad, Nov. 13 -- Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has directed RTC to step up efforts to increase non-ticket revenue, pointing out that while the Maha Lakshmi scheme has supported the corporation, long-term financial stability requires fresh income streams.

Women have availed 237 crore free tickets so far, with the government reimbursing Rs 7,980 crore to RTC. At a review meeting with top officials, the minister asked RTC to expand advertisements on buses, stations and ticketing systems.

He also instructed officials to introduce new routes in fast-growing city areas, prepare for the arrival of 2,000 new e-buses, upgrade charging infrastructure, and deploy new buses in high-demand corridors.
