Nagpur, Sept. 11 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the mining sector would be a key driver of India's goal of becoming a developed nation, with mineral security emerging as a critical component of economic and energy security.
Addressing the 36th Convention of Mining Engineers and a national seminar here, he said reforms introduced after 2014 have transformed the mining sector from a paper-driven industry into one focused on actual production and development.
Fadnavis said critical minerals and rare earth elements would play a vital role in sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence and clean energy, adding that India's mining industry could contribute nearly half a trillion dollars to the economy...
