Bengaluru, July 15 -- In a move aimed at addressing a long-standing demand from autorickshaw drivers, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) of Bangalore Urban District has announced a revision in autorickshaw fares within the limits of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

The revised fares will come into effect from August 1.

As per the new fare structure, the minimum charge for the first two kilometres will increase by 20 per cent - from the current Rs 30 to Rs 36. Beyond this, passengers will be charged Rs 18 per kilometre, up from Rs 15.

A night fare surcharge of 50 per cent will be applicable between 10 pm and 5 am.
