Ranchi, Aug. 13 -- Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday threatened a statewide agitation if the Centre did not withdraw the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026.

In a post on X, Soren alleged that the Bill had been passed hurriedly by both Houses of Parliament and would undermine Jharkhand's rights over its mineral resources.

He questioned why decisions concerning mineral resources found on Jharkhand's land should be taken by the Centre and said the state would not accept what he termed unfair treatment.

Soren claimed that the legislation could affect funding for social security and welfare schemes, including Maiyan Samman Yojana, Abua Awas Yojana, pensions, education and healthcare.
