Malappuram, Nov. 27 -- A 55-year-old migrant estate worker from Jharkhand was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Akampadam in Chaliyar panchayat near Nilambur, on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Charu Oraon (55) of Jharkhand.

He was employed as a rubber-tapping worker in a private rubber estate at Moolepadam near Akampadam.

The incident took place around 9:15 am, when Charu Oraon and his co-workers were returning to their rented houses after completing rubber tapping at the Ariyadam estate. A wild tusker suddenly attacked Charu Oraon and he died on the spot.
