New Delhi, June 12 -- The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has released the draft Telecommunications (Television, Radio and Associated Services) Rules, 2026 for public consultation, marking a major step towards streamlining the regulatory framework governing India's broadcasting sector.
The proposed rules have been framed under the provisions of the Telecommunications Act, 2023, which replaced the colonial-era Telegraph Act of 1885 and introduced a modern legal framework for telecommunications and broadcasting services in the country.
