New Delhi, Jan. 26 -- The 77th Republic Day celebrations began with a spectacular aerial display as Rashtrapati Bhavan witnessed the first formation of the day, the Dhwaj Formation.
Four Mi-17 IV helicopters from the 129 Helicopter Unit flew in a striking inverted 'Y' formation, proudly carrying the National Ensign along with the service flags of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Leading the formation, Group Captain Alok Ahlawat trooped the National Flag, while Deputy Formation Leader Wing Commander Ashutosh Khanduri carried the Indian Army Ensign. Wing Commander Abhishek Malhotra and Wing Commander Abhishek Shukla flanked the formation, bearing the Indian Navy and Air Force Ensigns, respectively.
