Ranchi, Jan. 7 -- Jharkhand is currently experiencing an intense spell of biting cold, with minimum temperatures across almost all districts plunging below 10 degrees Celsius.

A cold wave prevailing in several districts including Khunti, Ranchi, Bokaro, Chaibasa, Daltonganj and Lohardaga has severely affected normal life. In these areas, minimum temperatures have been recorded 3 to 5 degrees below normal.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, the lowest temperature in the state was recorded in Khunti at 2.1 degrees Celsius, where severe cold wave conditions continue to prevail. In Murhu area of Khunti district, dew droplets reportedly froze into thin layers of ice.
