New Delhi, April 7 -- : Delhi on Tuesday witnessed a sharp drop in temperatures, with the maximum plummeting to 27.6degC, departing nearly 8degC from the normal for April.

According to officials from the weather department, the city's maximum is likely to dip further in the next two days before climbing up again by 6-8degC.

"Fall in maximum temperature by 4-6degC during the next 2 days and a gradual rise by 6-8degC thereafter," said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Experts attributed the cooler temperatures in the city to scattered and intermittent showers in the national capital and neighboring states of North India, including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, reeling under the impact of a western disturbance.
