Lucknow, Nov. 4 -- An 18-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a man in Lucknow's Mahanagar area, officials said today.
The victim's family has accused the police of negligence in handling the case, claiming that despite the girl's critical condition, the police delayed her medical examination and failed to provide timely assistance.
According to the victim's elder sister, the incident took place on Sunday evening, when the girl was walking near her house. The family began looking for her when she didn't return for several hours. Local children told them that they had seen her being taken away on a scooter by a man.
