Mumbai , July 21 -- A memorandum has been submitted to the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Gyanesh Kumar, and the Chief Electoral Officer of Maharashtra seeking a minimum two-month extension of the August 8, deadline for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in the state.
The memorandum also urged the Election Commission to launch a statewide public awareness campaign, rectify technical shortcomings and introduce procedural improvements to ensure that no eligible voter is deprived of the opportunity to participate in the revision process.
