Srinagar, April 9 -- Former Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday urged New Delhi to initiate dialogue with neighbouring countries, including Pakistan, stressing that engagement remains the only viable path to lasting peace and stability.
Addressing a party rally in Kulgam, Mehbooba said that both Pakistan and China are India's neighbours and issues must be resolved through talks.
"China is our neighbour, Pakistan is our neighbour. Sit on the table and solve issues amicably. Open the historic silk road and that will create business opportunities for our youth," she said.
Mehbooba also credited Pakistan with playing a role in de-escalating recent global tensions, saying the world had come close to a major conflict.
