Shillong, Aug. 31 -- Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) on Sunday strongly criticised the State Government's decision to organise a "grand concert" on September 1 at Williamnagar in East Garo Hills to mark the birth anniversary of former Lok Sabha Speaker Purno Agitok Sangma.
In a statement, MPYC president Timjim K Momin clarified that the Youth Congress was not opposed to the observance of Late P A Sangma's birth anniversary, but said such occasions should be held in a "dignified and meaningful" manner instead of through "lavish concerts" involving lakhs and crores of rupees.
