Shillong, Aug. 30 -- A 35-year-old Lance Naik of Assam police was arrested by Meghalaya police today for allegedly sexual assault a girl child.
A police official said Lance Naik Projen Langthasa of 18th Armed Police Battalion allegedly committed the heinous crime in a village under Block-II under the jurisdiction of Mawlasnaipolice outpost in Meghalaya's Ri-Bhoi district on August 27.
"He (Lance Naik Projen Langthasa) was initially caught by the villagers for the sexual assault, but managed to flee," Vivekanand Singh Rathore, the district police chief of Ri-Bhoi, said.
A case was registered at Nongpoh Women Police station under POCSO Act.
Rathore said a Meghalaya police team was sent to Lumding, Assam on August 29 to arrest the accused ...
