Shillong, July 7 -- A division bench of the Meghalaya High Court has directed the state government to provide details regarding cases registered by police under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against drug operations around the Police Bazar area from policy 2026 till date.

Hearing a public interest litigation filed by Mewaker Lyngdoh vs the union of India & Others, the bench comprising Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Wanlura Diengdoh issued the order Monday after senior lawyer S. P. Mahanta informed the court that there is a large-scale activity of drug peddling in the Police Bazar area which he said needs to be curbed.
