Shillong, Sept. 15 -- The Meghalaya State Government Employees Federation has urged Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma to initiate an immediate revision of salaries for state government employees, pointing out that the state continues to follow the 5th Pay Commission recommendations even as the Centre moves towards the 8th Pay Commission.

The Federation has submitted a memorandum to Sangma, who also holds the Finance portfolio, seeking the revision and implementation of updated pay scales for state government employees.

"We have urged the Chief Minister to examine the disparity between the pay structures followed by central and state government employees," Federation Secretary General Banshari Kharshandi said.
