Nongstoin, April 15 -- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday reaffirmed the government's commitment to equitable development and inclusiveness.
Inaugurating the Nongstoin Community and Rural Development (C&RD) Development Office at Upper New Nongstoin in West Khasi Hills district, Sangma said that the C&RD department is the backbone of rural development with a mandate to uplift rural communities through stronger infrastructure, enhanced livelihoods and focussed poverty alienation programmes.
"Today we have 56 C&RD blocks that is a testament to the decentralised administrative frameworkof governance to ensure development reaches every household with empowered, well-equipped institution at the grassroots," he said.
